Eight lucky participants will be randomly selected from the draw to win Chiko’s exclusive prize package.

In 1950, Frank McEncroe, a boilermaker from Bendigo, Victoria, revolutionised the snack world with the creation of the Chiko Roll. Frustrated by the flimsy nature of spring rolls at outdoor sporting events, McEncroe envisioned a sturdier, more satisfying alternative. He crafted a larger, more robust roll that could be easily held in one hand, leaving the other free for a refreshing beverage. Its crispy outer layer doubled as its own holder, making it the perfect quick meal fix. And so, the legend of the great Chiko Roll was born! 

By 1965, Chiko Rolls had become a staple in most Australian takeaway restaurants, milk bars, and fish and chip shops. The catchy slogan “Grab a Chiko” highlighted their convenience: shop owners could simply take a Chiko Roll from the freezer and drop it into the fryer. Sometimes, a dash of sauce was added before it was slipped into its iconic Chiko Roll bag. During their peak in the 1970s, an astounding 40 million Chiko Rolls were sold annually across Australia, with over a million exported to Japan. In 1995, Simplot Australia proudly acquired the Chiko brand, continuing its legacy. 

Today Chiko remains a pop culture icon and popular snack widely available in fish and chip shops, and supermarkets across the country. They’re a part of Australia’s history so stock up on Chiko Rolls and be a part of this true legendary icon; Chiko!
